The Oil Me Up Baby Essentials

Essential Oils Safety Guidelines

1. Avoid applying oils to sensitive areas like the nose, ears, eyes, or broken skin. Avoid using “hot oils” on the face.*

2. Always read labels and package instructions before using an essential oil for the first time.

3. Use dilution to minimise skin sensitivity.

4. Be aware of oils with sun sensitivity warnings.

5. Practice safe storage—keep oils out of reach of children.

6. Always supervise young children when applying essential oils.

7. If you have specific health concerns, talk to a healthcare professional before trying essential oils.

*Hot oils or strong oils include Cassia oil, Cinnamon Bark oil, Clove oil, Oregano oil, Thyme oil, and some others.

We love using oils to support our physical and mental wellbeing however these oils are designed to work alongside western medicines and should not replace medical advice given from your healthcare professional. Even though many of our remedies will help injuries or illness we still encourage you to seek medical advice when needed.

Roller Ball Blends

On your skin. “Topical” application of essential oils allows the oil to absorb into the skin. Some ways to use essential oils on your skin are:
  • Massage.
  • Apply to targeted areas and rub in.
  • Add to lotions or moisturiser.

Essential oils easily penetrate the skin for localised benefits, making topical (on the skin) application a great way to experience the benefits of essential oils. This is why doTERRA works to create potent essential oils that are powerful enough to promote healthy-looking skin, yet gentle enough to use on a daily basis.

When used topically, essential oils can improve complexion and skin tone. They can also be used as part of a soothing massage. Before topical application, be sure to follow all label recommendations and dilution instructions.

Beneficial Areas You Can Apply Essential Oils

  • Neck.
  • Forehead and temples (unless the oil is classified as a “hot oil”).
  • Chest and abdomen.
  • Arms, legs, bottoms of feet.

Other Ways to Use Essential Oils Topically

  • Add a few drops of oil to a warm bath.
  • Make a hot or cold compress by soaking a cloth in water, adding essential oils, and then applying to the desired area.
  • Add oil to a lotion or moisturiser and then apply to skin.

Sensitive Areas to be Avoided

  • Some facial areas, such as the skin around the eyes.
  • Eyes and inner ears.
  • Broken, damaged, or otherwise injured skin.

Please note that all of our roller ball recipes are designed to be added to a 10ml glass roller ball bottle and topped up with fractionated coconut oil. Please follow the number of drops specified in each blend as these have
been carefully formulated to meet all safety specifications of the oils.

Diffuser Blends

Why should I diffuse essential oils?

When we diffuse essential oils we call this “aromatic” use of essential oils. This includes any application method that helps you experience the aroma of the oil. You can use essential oils aromatically by:

  • Diffusing in an essential oil diffuser.
  • Applying a drop to your hands and inhaling.
  • Wearing as a personal fragrance.

Aromatic use of essential oils is especially powerful.

We love to fill our space with the divine scents and blends of the oils for numerous reasons, sometimes just because they smell good but often to help promote a particular emotion or to aid a physical issue. The sense of smell is a tool that can elicit powerful physiological, mental, and emotional responses. Essential oils are quickly absorbed by smell receptors, which have a direct link to the limbic system, which is the part of your brain that stores memories and emotions. Some essential oils induce uplifting or invigorating effects, while others are more calming.

Diffusing is one of the simplest ways to use essential oils aromatically. You can use an essential oil diffuser if you’d like, but using essential oils aromatically does not require any special diffusing devices. You can  achieve the same health benefits by simply placing a few drops of essential oil in the palm of your hand, cupping it around your nose, and breathing deeply.

Please note that all of our diffuser blend recipes are designed and carefully blended to be used in a diffuser. Follow the instructions on your diffuser and simply add the number of drops from our blends to enjoy the various benefits and fragrances.

Recipes

When ingested, essential oils directly enter the blood stream via the gastrointestinal tract, where they are transported throughout the rest of the body. Essential oils are readily transported to all organs of the body, including the brain.

Follow label recommendations and other professional guidelines for dosage when using essential oils internally.

Effective Methods of Internal Application:

  • Add essential oils to water, smoothies, milk, tea, or other drinks - (but please only use in a glass or metal container (no plastic).
  • Put a drop under the tongue.
  • Take in a veggie capsule or add to a small amount of applesauce or yogurt.
  • Use oils in recipes for cooking or baking to replace fresh or dried herbs and spices (Remember, essential oils are much more potent than dried or fresh herbs and spices, so start with a very small amount. Use a toothpick for particularly potent oils.)

Please note that all of our recipes have been tried and tested; we had lots of fun sampling these and rejected many along the way to bring you the best selection of easily prepared foods and drinks.

Glossary

Muddling
Mashing up ingredients to release their flavour. Usually this is done at the start of making a cocktail and in the bottom of the glass. You can use a muddling tool but we found that the handle of a wooden spoon worked just as well.

Toothpick
Dip the toothpick into the essential oil then swirl the toothpick into your recipe. The deeper you dip the toothpick the stronger it will be. Air on the side of caution as more can be added using this method but unfortunately it cannot be taken away if you add too much (as we found out many times when devising our recipes).

Dabbing
Place your finger over the top of the essential oil bottle and quickly flip upside down and upright again to get a tiny amount on your finger, then dab your finger on a cube of ice before adding the ice to your drink.

According to WebMD ~ “Essential oils smell great, reduce stress, treat fungal infections, and help you sleep. They are concentrated extractions from plants. A process called distillation turns the “essence” of a plant into a liquefied form for many medicinal and recreational uses. There's a wide variety of essential oils available.”

And according to Dr Oz ~ “Essential oils have healing properties that can relieve anxiety, soothe a stressful mind, clear skin, prevent wrinkles, reduce allergy symptoms, and more.”

Tis’ true my friend, that just mentions a few of the many benefits, but that doesn’t mean to say that you have to be a health practitioner to use them or share them with the world, far from it… Oil Me Up Baby is created by real people like us, for real people like you.

So you don’t need to be Dr. Oz to help someone with an ailment, as the oils 'essentially' do that for you, Ha Ha! No Pun Intended… Essential Oils… Moving on... But they can also do SO much more, and we've crafted new and fun ways to introduce these oils into your everyday life, but please read these guidelines before you jump in!
